Carol J. Steinberg has practiced art, copyright, and entertainment law in New York City and on the East End of Long Island for over twenty-five years. She is a Member of the Faculty of the School of Visual Arts, where she teaches courses on Artists' Rights and was a regular speaker at the school’s conference on Liberal Arts and the Education of Artists. Carol is a co-chair of the Fine Arts Committee of the State Bar’s Entertainment, Arts, and Sports Law Section and of its Pro Bono Steering Committee and a member of the New York City Bar's Art Law Committee, where she chaired the sub-committee on Artists' Rights and currently chairs the sub-committee on Intellectual Property, as well as the City Bar’s Copyright and Literary Rights Committee. Carol is also a former Co-chair of the New York County Lawyers’ Association’s Media and Entertainment Law Committee.
Carol is on the Board of Directors of the Center for Art Law. She is a consultant to the New York Foundation for the Arts where she has organized and lectured at myriad professional development programs for artists, including for the Chinese Arts Delegation. She is also a member of the East Hampton Arts Council, the Fine Arts Federation, ALAI (International Artists' Rights organization founded by Victor Hugo), and the Copyright Society. Most recently, she spoke on a panel called “Financial Fitness for Artists” for the Pollock-Krasner Foundation.
