About the Instructor:

Amelia K. Brankov is the Founder of Brankov PLLC.  She focuses her practice on art law, intellectual property law, and litigation.  She advises galleries, collectors, artist studios, artist estates and foundations, curators, art advisors, appraisers, and conservators. She represents clients in disputes concerning the title, authenticity, and copyright interests of artwork, as well as business disputes among various players in the art world.  She assists clients in all legal aspects of transactions involving artwork including purchase agreements, consignment agreements, and loan agreements. 

 

She teaches a course on Visual Arts and the Law as an Adjunct Professor at NYU’s Steinhardt School, is a former Chair of the New York City Bar Association’s Art Law Committee, and is on the Board of ArtTable. 

This class addresses what artists and executors can do to prepare for legal issues surrounding copyrights, ownership, gifting, and sales. 

In this two-hour slot, the class will break down as follows: a comprehensive one-hour lecture, followed by a half-hour dedicated to a case study analysis, with the remaining 15 minutes for Q&A.
