Judith Wallace  is partner and the chair of the art law practice at Carter Ledyard & Milburn LLP (CLM). For twenty years, she has represented artists, estates, collectors, and nonprofits in disputes concerning ownership, authenticity, and agreements for the commission and sale of artwork, in transactions, and in legacy planning, in coordination with CLM’s nationally-recognized trusts and estates and tax exempt organization practices.  Judith worked on the landmark case of Mirvish v. Mott, which set forth the legal standard to prove gifts in an estate context, and numerous other cases of first impression involving the warranty standard for authenticity in art sales, the artist’s ownership rights to editioned prints, and recovery of artwork.
